Mawata, or Silk Hankies, are crafted from degummed cocoons stretched onto square frames to form their distinctive shape. These hankies can be spun by pulling them into a large loop and thinning it to your desired thickness. They are exceptional for Nuno felting—simply place them on your design before felting to achieve a cobweb effect. For maximum sheen, remember to iron your finished project. Additionally, Mawata can be used for knitting without the need for prior spinning—just stretch and knit.
