Manx Loaghtan Combed Top

from $4.75

The Manx Loaghtan is a rare breed of sheep native to the Isle of Man and descends from the primitive sheep once found throughout Scotland, the Hebrides, and the Shetland Islands.
I was pleasantly surprised at how soft this wool is considering that the micron count is 29-31. It has a beautiful milky-chocolate color, a little less red than shown in the pictures. For some reason, I think of a Grizzly Bear when I look at the wool. It has a lofty feeling to the touch with a staple of 3 to 3.5 inches long. I would recommend if for a beginner spinner. It can be used for wet felting, needle felting and it would yield interesting colors when dyed.

All my fiber comes from a smoke-free, pet-free environment.

I used to store my fibers with lavender sachets, but I don't anymore as I have learned that moths hate disturbances and some people are allergic to lavender. Now I dust and clean more frequently and move things around but I still include a lavender sachet with each order, unless someone requests me not to. If you don't want the lavender because you are allergic or for some other reason, let me know in the comment section, or send me a message.

I do my best to get pictures from different angles to capture and show the beauty of the color combinations. Remember that your monitor may show colors differently than mine. I'm always open to questions.

The lighting for the photos makes the colors a little brighter than they do in person, so expect the colors one or two shades darker.
